David Novak

David Novak "The same need that brought about the search engine has brought about today's storyteller," says David Novak. "The art of the storyteller is the art of the wayfinder." In David Novak's stories, we find our way in the company of a diverse array of characters, among a maze of contrasts: the familiar with the surprising, simplicity with complexity and the ordinary with the fabulous. David draws on his background in theatre arts including Shakespeare, clowning, creative dramatics, playwriting, and directing to bring richness to his storytelling performances. David has performed at numerous theatres and festivals across the U.S., including the National Storytelling Festival. He is creator of The Storyteller's Compass, a new method of narrative wayfinding. David’s arts education programs have found audiences from the Lincoln Center Institute to the Los Angeles Music Center On Tour. David received the 2002 Circle of Excellence award from the National Storytelling Network.
